The great debate on video games and their effects on people rages on, with an increasing amount of research finding that there are many more benefits to be gained than previously thought. This was something I picked up on when doing my Live Project during my degree, and is something I have continued to follow in the media. I had always thought that video gaming was given a rough ride in the media, and that there needed to be a more balanced evaluation of the effects and outcomes of playing. I found this TED talk by Daphne Bavelier, in which she discusses some of the positive effects gaming can have on our brains.
This TED talk is also mentioned in an article from informED, entitled "This Is Your Brain On Games". There are a number of links to further studies in the article, if you would like to read more.
